YouTuber MD Sameer Appears Before Police in Dharmasthala Mass Burial controversy

Mangaluru, Aug 24, 2025: YouTuber MD Sameer on Sunday appeared before the investigating officer at Belthangady Police Station in connection with a case filed against him over online content related to the Dharmasthala mass burial controversy. He was accompanied by his advocates.

The Dharmasthala police had booked Sameer for allegedly spreading false information through an AI-generated video that, according to authorities, contained fabricated details beyond the official complaint and court proceedings. He faces charges under Sections 192, 240, and 353 (1)(b) of the IPC.

Earlier, Sameer secured anticipatory bail from the Dakshina Kannada Principal District and Sessions Court on August 21 on a personal bond of ₹75,000. The bail conditions bar him from repeating the offence, absconding, or tampering with witnesses, and require him to cooperate with the investigation whenever summoned.
