Udupi: Truck seized for illegal sand transport, driver arrested

Udupi, Jan 6, 2026: Police have seized a truck involved in illegal sand transport in Heriadka, and a case has been registered. On January 2, around 12:30 pm, Heriadka police stopped and inspected a tipper truck near Anjaru Ring Road.
The truck was found carrying approximately three units of sand without any valid permit, estimated to be worth around ₹13,000. The driver, Sheikh Mohammad Nadeem, was arrested for allegedly stealing sand near Cherkadi Kannaru Petrol Bunk and transporting it illegally. A case has been filed at Heriadka Police Station in connection with the incident.
