Muzaffarnagar (UP), Jun 15, 2026: A 24-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by five men after being administered an intoxicating substance in a village in Muzaffarnagar district, police said on Sunday.
The incident reportedly took place on Saturday in a village under the Charthawal police station limits when the woman had gone to collect fodder from nearby fields.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar, a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against one Umer and his associates, who are currently absconding.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that the accused gave her an intoxicating substance before sexually assaulting her.
Police said the victim’s family launched a search after she failed to return home and later found her in a nearby forested area.
The woman was subsequently admitted to a hospital for treatment.
SSP Kumar said three police teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused. Further investigation into the case is underway.
