Udupi: Police arrest MDMA peddler, seize drugs and property worth Rs 3.23 lakh

Udupi, January 7, 2026: Udupi City police have arrested a man for allegedly transporting and attempting to sell the banned narcotic MDMA, seizing drugs and other property valued at ₹3.23 lakh.

Acting under the guidance of Udupi Sub-Divisional Police Officer Prabhu D. T., a team led by Udupi City Police Station in-charge Inspector Mahesh Prasad conducted the operation near Karamballi Ramabettu, a public place in Shivalli village, Udupi.


Drug


During the operation, police intercepted an autorickshaw and arrested Abdul Rauf (26), a resident near Doddanagudde Mosque in Shivalli village. The accused was allegedly found in possession of 7.59 grams of MDMA powder, estimated to be worth ₹15,000, which was intended for sale.

Police also seized ₹3,100 in cash, reportedly earned from drug sales, and the black-and-yellow autorickshaw used to transport the contraband. The total value of the seized drugs and property is estimated at ₹3.23 lakh.

A case has been registered at Udupi City Police Station, and the accused has been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway.

The operation was carried out by PSIs Bharatesh Kankanawadi and Gopala Krishna Jogi, along with personnel Harish Naik, Prasanna C., Nethravathi, Satish Palli, Hemanth Kumar, Santosh Rathod, and Anand.
