Mangaluru, Janaury 6, 2026: A protest was held on Monday near the Clock Tower in Mangaluru by a coalition of like-minded organisations, condemning the United States’ actions against the sovereign nation of Venezuela. The demonstrators criticised the US for allegedly attacking Venezuela, abducting its President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, and waging an undeclared war.
Addressing the protest, CPM district secretary Muneer Katipalla alleged that the United States had launched an attack on the small South American nation of Venezuela to assert its dominance over the global oil market. He said the alleged abduction of the country’s President was an inhuman act and accused the US of obstructing global peace through violence.
Labour leader Sukumar Thokkottu said the United States had created conflicts and wars in many countries across the world to gain control over the global oil market. He alleged that the US had levelled false accusations against several nations and plundered their resources, and demanded that India oppose such actions.
Community organisation representative Vasudeva Uchil and Dalit leader M. Devadas also addressed the gathering.
