Mangalore, Jun 27: Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa meet B Nagaraj Shetty, Chairman of the Karnataka Coastal Development Authority today at the former’s residence. The meeting comes in wake of Nagaraj Shetty’s resignation as Chairman of the Karnataka Coastal Development Authority. The reason for his resignation was made to be personal. However, there was strong rumor that he had also left the party.
According to sources, Mr. Shetty had resigned because he was furious about the arrest of A. Govinda Prabhu, a BJP leader and president of the Bantwal Urban Development Authority, in relation to an assault case as well as criminal charges registered against two other BJP workers. An anonymous BJP source said that Mr. Shetty might have been miffed because he could not use his influence to prevent the arrest of Mr. Prabhu.
After the meeting, Nagaraj Shetty claimed today that the Chief Minister has asked him to meet him in Bangalore to sort out issues related to his resignation. He has declined to reveal any details
In mean time, a close associate of Nagaraj Shetty said that the CM’s visit was as a courtesy call and there nothing serious. Mr. Shetty had lost his mother two days back and Yeddyurappa had come to express his condolence.
Speaking to media persons later, CM expressed sympathy for the families of 15 persons who died in Tumkur accident. He has announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each. He said that Rs 160 crore is sanctioned for the renovation work of Shree Kukke Subrahmanya Kshetra and to released in three phases. Rs 80 crore will be released immedietly for the phase.
