Udupi retains top spot in II PUC results; Dakshina Kannada close second

Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 10, 2026: Udupi district has once again emerged as the top performer in the state in the II PUC examinations, securing the first position for the second consecutive year with an impressive pass percentage of 96.39%. The Dakshina Kannada district put up a close fight but settled for second place with 96.35%. In 2025 too, Udupi had led with 93.90%, while Dakshina Kannada followed at 93.57%.

Dakshina Kannada had earlier dominated the rankings for three consecutive years after the COVID-19 pandemic—from 2022 to 2024—while Udupi consistently secured the second position during that period. In 2024, Dakshina Kannada topped with 97.37%, with Udupi close behind at 96.80%. In 2023, both districts recorded nearly identical performances, with Dakshina Kannada at 95.33% and Udupi at 95.24%.

This year, out of 16,624 fresh candidates in Udupi district, 16,024 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 96.39%. Overall, including private and repeat candidates, 17,133 students had registered, of whom 16,275 cleared the exam, taking the overall pass percentage to 94.99%. Private candidates recorded a pass percentage of 52.43%, while repeaters achieved 41.01%.

Girls Outshine Boys


Girls continued to outperform boys in the district. Of the 8,452 boys who appeared, 7,872 (93.14%) passed, whereas 8,403 out of 8,681 girls (96.8%) cleared the examination.

English Medium Students Lead


Students writing in English medium registered better results. Of the 15,299 English medium students, 14,756 (96.45%) passed, compared to 1,519 out of 1,834 Kannada medium students (82.82%).

Among social categories, 1,052 out of 1,160 Scheduled Caste students (90.69%) and 705 out of 762 Scheduled Tribe students (92.52%) passed. The pass percentages in other categories were: 2A – 95.33%, 2B – 93.39%, 3A – 97.71%, 3B – 96.56%, and others – 96.59%.

Urban Students Perform Better


Urban students marginally outperformed their rural counterparts. Of the 6,090 urban students, 5,877 (96.5%) passed, while 10,147 out of 10,534 rural students (96.33%) were successful.

Science Stream Leads Performance


The science stream recorded the highest success rate, with 8,006 out of 8,336 students passing, registering a pass percentage of 98.44%.

In the commerce stream, 6,866 out of 7,173 students (95.72%) passed, while the arts stream recorded a pass percentage of 85.38%, with 952 out of 1,115 students clearing the examination.

Top Scorers Shine

Among the top achievers, Chaithrika Chaudhary of Jnanasudha PU College, Karkala, secured 597 marks in the science stream. Vaishnavi Kulkarni and Anarvi from the same institution also scored 597, emerging among the leading performers.

In the commerce stream, Prerana Ramachandra Hegde of Creative College, Karkala, excelled with 598 marks, securing an impressive 99.67%.

Prajwal Shetty and Shrima Devadiga from Christ King Pre-University College, Karkala, scored 596 marks each in the commerce stream, securing the fourth rank in the state.
