Wildlife smuggling racket busted in Karnataka; two held

Sirsi, Sep 10, 2026: Members of the Sirsi Forest Mobile Squad arrested two individuals who were allegedly involved in the smuggling of wildlife products.

Acting on a reliable lead, personnel of the Sirsi Forest Mobile Squad carried out a raid on Tuesday night and arrested Shankar Siddhi and Narasimha Siddhi, residents of Uppaleshwara village in Yellapur taluk.

The foresters also confiscated 15.748kg of pangolin shells, two horns of the Indian Bison, eight tiger nails, two teeth of a tiger, 12 nails and three teeth of a leopard, six teeth of a wild boar that was found in the duo’s possession.

The foresters have found that others involved in the racket have gone absconding, and have launched a hunt for them.
