Mangaluru, Oct 27, 2026: Vehicle sales witnessed a significant surge during the Dasara festival in Dakshina Kannada district, with a total of 2,240 cars and two-wheelers sold over the 10-day festive period.
Of the total vehicles sold, 561 were cars and 1,679 were two-wheelers. More than 20% of the cars sold were luxury vehicles priced above ₹24 lakh, highlighting the demand for premium automobiles in the coastal district.

Mangaluru, one of Karnataka’s major cities, has emerged as a significant market for luxury cars. Unlike the national trend, where two-wheelers account for around 70% of vehicle sales, car purchases in Mangaluru have also remained strong.
Vehicle sales typically rise during the festive season, particularly from Ganesh Chaturthi to Deepavali. Akshaya Tritiya is another occasion when buyers traditionally prefer to purchase new vehicles.
According to the regional sales figures for the 10-day Dasara period, Mangaluru recorded the highest number of sales, with 392 cars and 1,102 two-wheelers sold. Puttur recorded sales of 110 cars and 356 two-wheelers, while Bantwal reported 59 cars and 221 two-wheelers.
The figures across the three RTO jurisdictions add up to 561 cars and 1,679 two-wheelers, taking the total number of vehicles sold in Dakshina Kannada during the festive period to 2,240.
