Bengaluru, Oct 26, 2026: Police have arrested three men from Assam in connection with the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Pulikeshinagar on October 20, which injured two people. Investigators have ruled out a terror angle, stating that the explosion was the result of personal enmity.

The accused have been identified as Zahidul Hussain Barbhuiya (27), Sajidul Islam Laskar and Barhan Ahmed Barbuiya.

According to the investigation, Zahidul allegedly held a deep personal grudge against one of the injured, Alluddin M, his uncle, over a land dispute and financial matters. He allegedly decided to plant the IED as a result of the rivalry.

Police also found that Barhan, an electrician, had searched the internet for information on assembling IEDs and allegedly used his technical knowledge in preparing the device.

Initial speculation suggested that the blast might have occurred during an experiment to make an IED. However, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh dismissed these concerns, stating that investigators had examined all possible angles, including terrorism, before establishing the alleged motive.

“There is no need for people to be alarmed or panic, as the incident was motivated by personal enmity,” Singh said at a press conference on Sunday.

The police questioned more than 100 people and examined over 1,500 CCTV footage recordings to crack the case within 72 hours, the commissioner said.

“We questioned around 100 people in all. Through these interrogations and the coordinated efforts of our teams, we successfully cracked the case,” he said.
