Padmaraj Poojary vows to win all 8 assembly seats in Dakshina Kannada for Congress

Mangaluru, Sep 11, 2026: Newly appointed Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee president Padmaraj R. Poojary has said he will work to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and ensure that Congress wins all eight Assembly constituencies in the district in the 2028 elections.

Addressing a press conference in Mangaluru, Poojary said Dakshina Kannada and the coastal region had once been known for communal harmony when the Congress was in power, with people living together without differences based on caste, religion or faith.

“Congress should not have lost in Dakshina Kannada. Voters have seen how the opposition has managed to win here. We need to bring back the party’s past glory. The district witnessed significant development when Congress was in power,” he said.

Poojary said he would personally visit even the last booth in the district and work towards strengthening the party organisation.

“There may be differences within the party for various reasons, but I will certainly work to bring everyone together,” he said.

He said he would involve party leaders and workers in the effort to win all eight Assembly constituencies in the district in 2028.

“We will also work to regain power in the Mangaluru City Corporation in the coming days. We will introspect on the results of previous elections, identify our shortcomings and work continuously to strengthen the party,” he said.

Poojary also stressed that his focus would be on winning the support of people from all communities and not just the Billava community.

“My only objective is to bring back the past glory of the Congress in this district. Strengthening the party organisation will be my priority,” he said.
