Udupi: Two arrested for submitting fake Aadhaar Card in court to secure bail

Udupi, Sep 11, 2026: Police have arrested two persons for allegedly submitting a fake Aadhaar card in court while arranging bail for an accused in a case being heard before the Udupi District and Sessions Court.

The arrested persons have been identified as Umar Farooq (32) from Bantwal and Nishanth Kumar (24) from Mangaluru, police said.

According to police, while accused Noman was being granted bail in a case pending before the Udupi District and Sessions Court, Farooq allegedly created a fake Aadhaar card by replacing the name and address on the Aadhaar cards of Farooq and Prashanth with those of a person identified as K.T. Mohammed.

The fake document was allegedly submitted to the court by impersonating another person for personal benefit.

Following a complaint, a case was registered at the Udupi Town Police Station. During the investigation, police arrested Umar Farooq and Nishanth Kumar and produced them before the court.

The court subsequently remanded both accused to judicial custody.
