Mangaluru, Apr 11, 2026: The modern healthcare system is rapidly evolving with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and precision medical technologies. However, while adopting these advancements, doctors must not forget compassion, ethical values, and patient-centric care, said Medical Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash R. Patil.

He was speaking after inaugurating the international physiotherapy conference, Mangaluru PhysioCon 2026, organised by the South Canara Physiotherapy Teachers’ Association at the TMA Pai Hall in the city on Friday.

“Science without humanity loses its relevance, and healthcare without compassion loses its true purpose,” he said.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, who also addressed the gathering, highlighted the vast opportunities in the field of physiotherapy. He noted that with the growing elderly population in many countries, the demand for physiotherapists is expected to rise significantly in the coming years.
