Bantwal: Wanted accused hiding abroad for 6 years arrested at Mangaluru airport

Bantwal, Sep 16, 2026: Bantwal Town Police arrested a wanted accused at Mangaluru International Airport on September 15 with the assistance of immigration officials. The accused had allegedly been staying abroad for around six years without appearing before the court in connection with a criminal case.

The arrested person has been identified as Mohammed Naufal alias Safari Naufal (34), a resident of Bajal-Nanthoor in Mangaluru.

Wanted man arrested

A case was registered against him at Bantwal Town Police Station under Crime No. 24/2020 for offences under Sections 143, 147, 148, 504, 323, 324, 506 and 427 read with Section 149 of the IPC, along with Section 2(a) of the Prevention of Destruction and Loss of Property Act.

According to police, Naufal had been staying abroad for nearly six years while failing to appear for court proceedings in the case.

On September 15, he returned to India from abroad. Bantwal Town Police, with the assistance of the Immigration Department at Mangaluru International Airport, took him into custody.

The accused was produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody until September 29.
