Mumbai, Nov 8, 2026: Indian stock markets began Samvat 2083 on a cautious note, with benchmark indices recording marginal movements during the 70-minute Diwali Muhurat Trading session on Sunday.
The Nifty 50 slipped 0.03% to close at 25,023.70, while the BSE Sensex gained 0.10% to settle at 81,109.86, reflecting a largely range-bound trading session.

Despite the muted performance, the Nifty’s ability to remain above the psychologically significant 25,000 mark offered some reassurance to investors. The cautious sentiment followed seven consecutive sessions of gains, with investors showing little inclination to book profits.
Ajay Lakhotia, Founder and CEO of StockGro, said the session reflected the traditional calm and slightly positive sentiment associated with Muhurat Trading. He cautioned that the special trading session should not be viewed as an indicator of the market’s future direction.
Gaurav Garg, Head of Research at Lemonn, described the session as one of cautious optimism, noting that the Nifty’s ability to hold above 25,000 indicated resilience following the recent rally.
As regular trading resumes, investors will closely monitor foreign institutional investor flows, crude oil prices, corporate earnings, domestic economic growth and developments in the US interest rate outlook.
Market experts noted that the sustainability of recent positive trends in foreign fund flows and oil prices would play a crucial role in determining the direction of Indian equities during Samvat 2083.
