Bengaluru, Apr 10, 2026: A 17-year-old II PUC student allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Manorayanapalya, Hebbal, shortly after her examination results were announced on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Tanushree, was a science student at a private college in the city.
According to police, the incident came to light around 3.30 pm. Tanushree was alone at home at the time, as her mother, Asha, had gone to work. Friends who visited her found her unresponsive and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that she had failed in three subjects and was under significant distress. Police said she had spoken to friends about her results earlier in the day. When she stopped responding to calls and messages, they went to check on her.
No suicide note was recovered from the scene, though her hall ticket was found on the bed.
Based on a complaint filed by her mother, the Hebbal police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation.
Meanwhile, relatives from her father’s side have raised suspicions of foul play. Her father had passed away a few years ago due to health issues.
