Thieves break into railway quarters

Mangalore, Nov 5, 2011 : A railway quarters was broken into on the night of Nov 4 Friday and valuables were stolen. The victim is Pramod Kumar of Bihar, who had gone home to Bihar on Oct 27. He is employed as the assistant technician of the railway signal department.

Mr. Kumar has been robbed of 27gms of gold ornaments, 150gms silver, a DVD player, and a home theatre system. The thieves also stole Rs. 5000.

The thieves entered the house by breaking the grills of the window. There are signs that they had attempted to break in through the door.

Anand, the railway union secretary, who stays in the same quarters and was away at the time of the theft, discovered that Pramod’s window was open and that his cupboard was broken into when he returned home. When he saw Pramod’s belongings strewn across the floor, he immediately called the Pandeshwar Police.

The Pandeshwar Police have currently registered a case.

Sources at the railway quarters say that theft is quite common in this area, but the police have failed to nab the culprits in spite of the several complaints lodged.
