Mysuru, Aug. 2, 2026: A five-year-old boy allegedly died after choking on a small plastic toy ball found inside a packet of Kurkure snacks in Mysuru district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Mukund Mayur, the only son of Santosh and Aishwarya, and grandson of former Gram Panchayat vice-president Gouramma and Shankar Nayak.

According to preliminary reports, the child swallowed a small plastic toy ball that was allegedly included in the snack packet. The toy is suspected to have become lodged in his throat, causing suffocation.
A case has been registered at the Hunsur Rural Police Station, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The tragedy comes months after a similar incident in Hunsur, where a six-and-a-half-month-old infant died after choking on a dried hibiscus flower kept for pooja at home.
