India’s Medal Tally Reaches 39 as Boxers Deliver Record Seven Golds at Glasgow CWG

Glasgow, Aug. 2, 2026: India enjoyed its most successful day yet at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, winning 16 medals on Day 10, including a record seven gold medals in boxing, to climb to fourth place in the overall standings with a tally of 39 medals.

The boxing contingent led India’s remarkable performance, contributing 10 medals—seven golds and three silvers. Gold medals were won by Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, Sakshi Chaudhary, Priya Ghanghas, Arundhati Choudhary, Sachin Siwach, and Ankush Panghal, marking India’s best-ever boxing performance at the Commonwealth Games.


2026 Commonwealth Games


Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain, Jadumani Singh, and Narender Berwal settled for silver after finishing runners-up in their respective finals.

India also excelled in para-athletics, securing a one-two finish in the men’s F57 shot put event, with Soman Rana winning gold and Shubham Juyal taking silver. In athletics, Praveen Chithravel clinched silver in the men’s triple jump, while Selva Prabhu Thirumaran bagged bronze in the same event.

Distance runner Gulveer Singh added his second medal of the Games by winning bronze in the men’s 5,000m, having earlier claimed silver in the 10,000m. Unnati Sharma also contributed to India’s medal haul with a bronze in judo.

With these performances, India has accumulated 39 medals—13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze—moving into fourth place in the Commonwealth Games medal table despite the absence of traditional medal-rich disciplines such as hockey, badminton and wrestling.

India’s 13 gold medals have come through Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (Weightlifting, Women’s 48kg), Sharmila Dhankar (Para-Athletics, Women’s Shot Put F57), Dilip Gavit (Para-Athletics, Men’s 100m T47), Asmita Dey (Judo, Women’s 48kg), Harsh Singh (Judo, Men’s 60kg), Soman Rana (Para-Athletics, Men’s Shot Put F57), and the boxing champions Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, Sakshi Chaudhary, Priya Ghanghas, Arundhati Choudhary, Sachin Siwach, and Ankush Panghal.
