Udupi, Aug 1, 2026: Former Udupi City Municipal Council Vice-President Lakshmi Manjunath Kol (37) was killed after being hit by a private bus near Lions Circle on Court Road in Udupi on Saturday afternoon.
According to reports, Lakshmi had attended a meeting at the BJP office in Kadiyali and later visited the office of the Udupi MLA, located in the Taluk Panchayat building. While she was walking along the roadside on her way home, a private bus allegedly struck her.
She sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.
Traffic police rushed to the scene and are conducting an investigation into the incident.
