Kundapur shootout case: Prime accused Derrick Crasta arrested

Kundapur, Aug 1, 2026: Police have arrested the prime accused who had been absconding in connection with the fatal shooting that took place on Church Road in Kundapur taluk during the early hours of Friday, July 31.

The accused has been identified as Derrick Crasta (55), a native of Kannadakudru near Hemmadi and currently residing in an apartment in Kundapur.

According to police, Derrick is accused of fatally shooting Ivan Richard Mascarenhas alias Munna (45), a native of Hebri who was living in a rented house near Kachoor in Barkur.

A special police team constituted under the supervision of the Udupi Superintendent of Police arrested Derrick on Saturday at Belke Herbudike in Bhatkal. He will be produced before the court, and further investigation is underway, the SP said.
