Surathkal: Youth drowns at Sasihithlu beach, three others rescued

Surathkal, Aug 25, 2025: A tragic incident was reported on Sunday evening at Sasihithlu Mooda Beach near Surathkal, where one person drowned while three others were rescued by locals.

The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Sameer (23), son of the late Anwar, a resident of Padupanambur Kajakatota.

Those rescued include Aiman (23), son of Abubakar from Padupanambur Kajakatota; Rayees (22), also from Kajakatota; and Fazil, son of Hanif from Haleyangadi Bolluru. Local fishermen rushed to their aid and managed to save them, following which they were shifted to a private hospital in Mukka.

Reports said six cousins from the same family had gone to the beach for an outing. While playing in the water, Sameer, Aiman, and Fazil were swept away by strong waves. Alert locals raised an alarm, after which fishermen rushed in and rescued the three. However, Sameer could not be saved and was declared dead, while Aiman and Fazil are out of danger.

Surathkal police visited the spot, registered a case, and are investigating the matter.
