PFI protests against government’s hostile policy towards KFD

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, July 22: The Popular Front of India (PFI) along with a few other organizations staged a protest in front of the DC’s office this evening, condemning the state government’s suppressive policy against Muslim organizations and its provocative statements. The protestors accused the government of attempting to divert the mind of the public from the fact that it has made Karnataka the most corrupt state in India.

This protest closely follows on the heels of certain provocative statements made by Home Minister R. Ashok and Primary and Higher Education Minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri regarding the Bhagavad Gita Abhiyan in schools and the banning of KFD.

Speaking on the occasion, Komu Sauharda Vedike President G. Rajashekar said that the government’s move to ban KFD based on the Hunsoor kidnap and murder case reflects the prejudice of the BJP-led state government against KFD. He added that the accused are not considered guilty until proven so by the court.

Challenging the government to ban the organization, Mohammed Riyaz, the leader of PFI, accused the government of playing cheap tricks out of fear of losing the next elections.

Pattabhirama Somayaji said that an organization cannot be banned on the basis of allegations while an organization such as RSS, which is clearly guilty of killing Mahatma Gandhi, continues to exist.

The agitators then submitted a memorandum addressed to the H. R. Bharadwaj, the governor of Karnataka, to the DC.
