Mangaluru: Labourers are the backbone of society, says B.K. Imtiyaz

Mangaluru, May 1, 2026: “The world has grown and progressed through the hard work of labourers. Without them, the wheel of society cannot move,” said B.K. Imtiyaz, President of the Port Workers’ Union.

He was speaking at the May Day celebration organised by the Port Workers’ Union at the Old Port workers’ area in the city on Thursday.

Imtiyaz alleged that governments are acting in favor of corporate companies, curtailing workers’ rights and weakening labour laws. He stressed that unless workers unite and fight collectively, their rights cannot be secured.

Senior union member Majeed Ullalbaail hoisted the flag on the occasion.

Prominent members of the Port Workers’ Union, including Mohan Kumpala, Siddiq Bengre, Shameer Boliyar, Lokesh Shetty, Harish Kerebail, Rafiq, Abbas M.R., and M.D. Jasim, were present.
