Mangaluru, Apr 30, 2026: Office-bearers of the Licensed Electrical Contractors’ Association have alleged that customers and electrical contractors are facing severe difficulties due to issues with MESCOM’s server and N-Soft system. They warned that if the problem is not resolved within a week, they will stage a “MESCOM Chalo” protest.
Addressing a press conference at a private hotel in the city on Wednesday, Dakshina Kannada district president Kushal Poojary and former state committee vice-president Urban Pinto said MESCOM’s mismanagement has left customers, the general public, and electrical contractors in distress, particularly those awaiting electricity connections for newly constructed houses.
They noted that in Dakshina Kannada district, many people have built new homes with great effort and are ready to fix housewarming dates, but are unable to move in due to the lack of electricity connections. This is not an isolated issue, they said, as thousands of new houses are facing similar problems, causing mental stress to customers.
They further stated that electrical contractors have already completed the required work for providing connections by investing their own money. However, due to the delay in power supply, customers are withholding payments, leaving contractors with pending dues amounting to lakhs of rupees. This has pushed hundreds of contractors into financial distress. They blamed MESCOM’s inefficiency and irresponsibility for the hardships faced by the public and contractors.
Speaking on behalf of the association, CITU Dakshina Kannada district general secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal and Karnataka State Farmers’ Association district president Yadava Shetty said that despite multiple representations and appeals to senior MESCOM officials, no action has been taken.
They warned that if the issue is not resolved within a week, electrical contractors in the district, along with farmers, workers, students, youth, women, Dalit and Adivasi organisations, and other public groups, will unite to organise a protest march to the MESCOM office.
Association secretary Purushottam and organising secretary Yusuf were also present at the press conference.
