Delhi HC’s VC hacked as unknown user runs pornographic content during proceedings

New Delhi, Apr 30, 2026: Proceedings in the Delhi High Court were disrupted three times after an unidentified user hacked into the virtual hearing and streamed obscene content, prompting the court administration to lodge a complaint with the police.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia was hearing a case when a user, logged in under the name “Shitjeet Sighn,” joined the video conference, shared his screen and played pornographic material, forcing an immediate shutdown of the session.

When the hearing resumed, the same user again shared explicit content, leading to another shutdown. The disruption was repeated a third time, during which a voice was heard claiming, “This is a hack from the United States. Shut the meeting right now. Never turn it on again. You have been hacked.”

Following the repeated breaches, the High Court administration filed a complaint with the Delhi Police’s Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit, citing a possible security lapse during virtual proceedings.

Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma informed the court that similar “disturbing incidents” had occurred in multiple courts during the pre-lunch session, raising concerns about the sanctity and integrity of judicial proceedings.

The Chief Justice said administrative instructions had already been issued to the Registrar General, noting that such content cannot be displayed under court rules, especially when proceedings are being recorded.
