PCR vans successful in bringing down crime: Seemanth Kumar Singh

Mangalore, Feb 18: Police Control Room (PCR) vans have definitely made traffic and law and order management very easy. A total of 11 PCR vans are stationed at strategic areas in Mangalore and 4 more vans will soon be added to the list. These vans function as mobile police control rooms and equipped with the latest telecommunication gadgets and weapons.

Voicing his opinions regarding PCR vans, Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that the presence of PCR vans in the area lowers crime rate. This is because the vans are capable of reaching the spot of the crime within a matter of minutes and the policemen who run the van will either handle the situation on their own or will communicate to higher police officials in the area so that they can rush to the spot immediately.

S. Ramesh, the deputy commissioner of law and order, said that all 17 police stations coming under the commissionerate will get a PCR van in the near future. The vans occupy different places at different times of the day, a fact that will go a long way in preventing crime in the area. PCR vans are a great way to control riots, common crimes, street fights, eve teasing, burglary, and shoplifting. Moreover, PCR vans are best equipped to deal with traffic offences. The policemen who run these vans say that they now find it easier to deal with crime in the city.
 

Police are confident that PCR vans and police motorcycles will definitely bring the crime rate down in the city.
