Mangaluru, Jan 23, 2026: Mangaluru will host the third edition of Den Den Swim, an international open-sea swimming championship organised by the Mangalore Surf Club, at Tannirbhavi Beach on January 26.

After the success of its first two editions, Den Den Swim has grown into a major endurance event on India’s west coast, attracting national-level athletes and increasing international participation, and positioning Mangaluru on the global open-water swimming map.

The championship will feature race categories of 500 metres (open swim), 2 km, 4 km, 6 km and 8 km, catering to both elite endurance swimmers and amateur participants.

Organisers said participation has nearly doubled, with about 400 swimmers expected this year, compared to around 200 in the previous edition. The technical committee is headed by Olympian Gagan Ullalmath, ensuring high competitive and safety standards.

Mukund Realty has come on board as the title sponsor for Den Den Swim 2026, supporting the event’s goal of promoting sporting culture and showcasing Mangaluru as a hub for international-standard endurance events.

“We are proud to support Den Den Swim as the title sponsor as it reflects the future of Mangaluru—healthy, active, aspirational, and globally visible. Such events go beyond promoting sport; they help shape the city’s identity and boost its confidence. Our aim is to see Mangaluru recognised worldwide as a hub for world-class experiences,” said Gurudatta Shenoy, Managing Partner of Mukund Realty.

Given its open-sea format, the event places strong emphasis on safety. The Indian Coast Guard, along with trained lifeguards and dedicated safety protocols, will provide security and on-ground support.

The organisers said the event aims to promote sea confidence, safety awareness and the growth of the open-water swimming community.

Event Date: January 26, 2026 (flag-off at 6.30 am)
Venue: Mangalore Surf Club, Tannirbhavi Beach, Mangaluru
Race categories: 500 m, 2 km, 4 km, 6 km and 8 km
