New Delhi, Jul 6, 2026: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday named Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed as an accused in its supplementary chargesheet in connection with the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

According to an NIA statement, the supplementary chargesheet, filed before the NIA Special Court in Jammu, charges Pakistan-based Saeed both in his individual capacity and as the chief of the banned terrorist outfit LeT and its proxy organisation, The Resistance Front (TRF).

Saeed has been booked under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967. He has also been charged with waging war against India and conspiring from across the border to orchestrate the attack.

The supplementary chargesheet details Pakistan’s alleged conspiracy, Saeed’s role in the attack, and the evidence gathered by the NIA through scientific investigation and extensive on-ground examination.

Earlier, on December 15, 2025, the NIA had filed its initial chargesheet naming Sajid Jatt, along with three terrorists who were killed by security forces during Operation Mahadev in July 2025. It also named two arrested accused in the case.

The agency has additionally charged the banned LeT/TRF as a legal entity for its alleged role in planning, facilitating, and executing the Pahalgam terror attack.

Following the April 22 attack, an FIR was initially registered at the Pahalgam police station before the Union Home Ministry transferred the investigation to the NIA.

The NIA said the investigation is continuing to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy, alleging that Pakistan has been actively sponsoring terrorism on Indian soil from across the border.
