Mangaluru, Aug 20, 2026: Playback singer and All India Radio Top-Grade artiste Sangeetha Balachandra is set to attempt a 25-hour continuous singing feat featuring Dasara Padagalu, with the aim of entering the Golden Book of World Records.
Titled ‘Panchavimshati’, the event will mark 25 years of Sangeetha Balachandra’s journey in the music industry. The programme will be held at Sri Puttige Narasimha Sabhangana at Geetha Mandir, near Sri Krishna Mutt in Udupi, from 6.30 am on August 23 to 7.30 am on August 24, she told mediapersons.
During the performance, Sangeetha will present 250 Dasara Padagalu, each featuring newly composed musical arrangements. She said she had selected Dasara compositions that have not previously been performed by musicians.
“The performance is planned to continue for 1,500 minutes without interruption,” she said.
Two separate teams of accompanying musicians will provide continuous live music throughout the performance. The teams will include artistes playing the keyboard, rhythm pad, flute and tabla.
According to the Golden Book of World Records guidelines, the artiste will be permitted a 10-minute break after every three hours of performance.
Sangeetha said she has been practising for six hours continuously every day in preparation for the attempt.
Studio engineer and keyboard artiste Gururaj said the attempt is particularly significant as a woman singer is undertaking a continuous 25-hour performance centred predominantly on Dasara Padagalu.
