Daylight robbery in Bantwal: Four men loot over Rs 8 lakh from biker

Bantwal, Aug 20, 2026: Four men allegedly intercepted a biker and robbed him of more than Rs 8 lakh in broad daylight at Mulkaaje Mada in the rural part of Bantwal taluk on Thursday.

The victim, identified as Mayyadi from Surathkal, was returning on his motorcycle after collecting payments for cement supplied wholesale to various shops when the incident occurred.

According to reports, the four accused arrived on two motorcycles, intercepted him and threatened him with machetes before fleeing with the bag containing the cash.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Bantwal Rural Police Station. Inspector Anantha Padmanabha and Sub-Inspector Manjunath, along with a police team, visited the spot and conducted an inspection after receiving information about the robbery.

The police have launched an investigation and are working on multiple leads to trace the accused. They are examining the motorcycles used by the suspects, their movements and CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.

The exact amount of cash robbed and other details are expected to become clear as the investigation progresses.
