Puttur, Oct 12, 2026: Police have seized a house and the surrounding premises, including a cattle shed belonging to Shivaprasad, an accused in an illegal cattle transport case registered at Puttur Rural police station.

The seizure was carried out on October 8 in connection with Crime No. 125/2026. Shivaprasad, a resident of Devasya in Aryapu village of Puttur taluk, is accused of selling cattle kept at his house without the necessary documents and permissions, police said.

On October 5, acting on information that cattle were being illegally transported towards Kerala, Puttur Rural police sub-inspector Sushma G Bhandari and her team conducted an operation near Beliyurkatte in Balnadu village. They intercepted a pickup vehicle and found 11 cattle allegedly packed inside in a cruel manner.

The driver and another occupant fled when the police stopped the vehicle. A case was registered on the suspicion that the cattle were being transported to Kerala for sale for meat without the required permits.

The two persons who initially escaped were subsequently taken into custody by Sampya police, and a case was registered against them. During the investigation, police conducted a mahazar at Shivaprasad’s house and later arrested him for allegedly selling cattle without the required permission.

As part of efforts to trace those involved in the transportation, police also took two other accused into custody. They were Haspar alias Ammi, a resident of Saroli, and Ibrahim Madala, a resident of Sattikallu in Kedila village.

Following a mahazar at Shivaprasad’s house in Devasya, Aryapu village, police seized the property in accordance with the prescribed procedure over the alleged illegal sale of cattle.
