Mangaluru, Nov 25, 2022: Kozhikode District Court in Kerala lifted the ban against Kantara movie’s iconic Varaha Roopam song due to lack of jurisdiction. A Kerala court ruled in favour of Hombale Films and dismissed the petition of Thaikudam Bridge.

Varaha Roopam

The Varaha Roopam song courted controversy after Thaikkudam Bridge, a music band from Kerala alleged that the song used in the movie had portions directly lifted from their original song "Navarasam".

Dismissing the petition, the court said it failed to understand why the petitioner had directly approached the court to vacate an ad-interim order bypassing the procedure established under law. The order was not final and hence was not appealable. It was up to the petitioner to appear before the sessions courts, file “its counter statement/affidavit and raise all its contentions before it”.

Kantara is an action thriller written, directed and acted by Rishab Shetty. The film crossed Rs 400 crore at the box office worldwide and received an overwhelming reception from the critics and audiences alike. The film’s music is composed by Ajaneesh B Loknath.
