KIOCL plans to develop Kudremukh as eco tourist area

Mangalore, June 29, 2011: KIOCL Ltd has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) for the development of Kudremukh as an eco tourism spot to Jungle Lodges and Resorts (JLR).

According to Mr. K. Ranganath, the chairman and managing director of KIOCL Ltd., the DPR has been submitted for acceptance and KIOCL is currently awaiting the favorable response of JLR.

 

 

Recently, Mr. Suresh Kumar, the district-in-charge minister of Chikmagalur, met the DC of Chikmagalur, KIOCL, and JLR to discuss the development of Kudremukh as a eco tourism spot. KIOCL is proposing eco tourism not in the area where the central government was planning to develop as a tiger reserve, but in its periphery.

The company intends to launch eco tourism in the revenue leasehold area of the company. Mr. Ranganath said that this can be done without causing any harm to the environment.

The plan also includes making Kudremukh free from plastic usage and to develop solar energy.

Mr. Ranganath is of the opinion that the development of Kudremukh as an eco tourism spot will help utilize the infrastructure  created at the township in a better way.
