Mangalore, March 7: After inaugurating an anganwadi, a health sub-centre, a public library building, and the Ballurugudde road project in Kannur ward, District-in-charge Minister J Krishna Palemar said that emphasis will be placed on the development of undeveloped MCC wards. He added that Kannur, one of these underdeveloped wards, will be developed in a phased manner, adding that the Kannur health sub-centre will be upgraded to a full-fledged primary health centre within one year.

MLA N Yogish Bhat said that plans were afoot to allocate at least Rs 25 crore for road development in the MCC’s interior wards as soon as the state government releases Rs 100 crore.

Yogish Bhat said that the CM has agreed to sanction the required funds to MCC. Rs 2 crore has already been spent on Kannur, which requires another Rs 3 crore for different projects. He said that equal priority will be given to the development of all 60 wards of the MCC. 

Bhat informed that a private agency is making plans to construct a housing layout in a 300-acre plot in Kannur and provide infrastructure to a school for economically backward students in Kannur.  A 7-acre plot will be allotted for the project. 

Mayor Rajani Dugganna; Sudhir Shetty, the president of the Town Planning and Development Standing Committee; Ashok D K, the opposition leader in Mangalore City Corporation (MCC); Khalid Yusuf, member of the Taluk Panchayat; Shobha Rani, the Child Development Programme officer; and others were also present.
