Mangalore, Sept 6, 2011:  An array of activities in group dynamics, communication and team building, loads of fun at the camp fire and nature trail, motivational sessions on leadership and more marked the two-day leadership Camp 2011 that concluded at the Presidency School, Mangalore on Sunday (Sept. 4). The residential programme drew as many as 140 students from six schools of the Presidency group from Bangalore and Mangalore as the Presidency School at Neermarga in the city wore a festive look hosting the mega event.

Addressing the student leaders of the six schools, Director of Presidency Group of Schools, T Thangadurai exhorted the students to exhibit humility in their march towards grooming as effective and successful individuals. Stating that the convergence of leaders of the student councils of the Presidency Group of Schools was a traditional practice at the Group, he mentioned that a novel concept of `Leadership Audit’ would be initiated from this year as a follow up of the camp held.


The two-day event included an array of intense and interactive sessions with central theme of `Discover the leader in you’ with resource persons who include Lions District Governor P Kishore Rao, Jaycee national trainer Arvind Rao, Prof. Radhakrishna from MGM College, Udupi, Nuero-Linguistic Programme practitioner Pushparaj from Kasargod, Executive Editor of Mangalore Today Mahesh Nayak among others.



The atmosphere was surcharged with emotional outburst as Capt. Gopinath, a professor who has been physically immobile for the past 17 years, shared his experiences on `how to face challenges in life. Professor at Srinivas College of Management, Priti Jeevan also held the group in a grip as she4 conducted a session on team building.

The auditorium was in rapt silence and frequent applauds as six young leaders participated in a unique panel discussion where they aired their opinions on leadership and the way to move ahead. The panelists included President of Students Union of St. Agnes College, Mangalore, Saudhamini, Student People Leader of Presidency School, Utsav Karia, Vice President of CREST Rahul Rajprakash, President of Mangalore Toastmasters Winners Club Trishma Pinto, President of Mangalore chapter of MAD (Make A Difference) Grishma Rai and Sumith Bhat a first year student of SDM Law College. The session wasmoderated by former journalist S Nandagopal.

Among the other highlights of the camp was the fun filled camp fire on Saturday and a informative and challenging trek from Pilikula to Manjalpade on Sunday morning. Participants dared the rains as they trekked through the greens of the city, a rare experience for the 120 odd students from Bangalore.


The intense training programme was conducted by Centre for Integrated Learning, a city based personality development training organization.


The participating  schools include Presidency School - Bangalore East, Bangalore South, RT Nagar, Nandini Layout, Mangalore and St. Paul School, Bangalore.
