Bengaluru, May 15, 2026: Karnataka Lokayukta police have filed a chargesheet against five individuals, including three government officials, in connection with an alleged Rs 50-crore land fraud case in Bengaluru.
The case stems from an FIR registered in 2023. Investigators alleged that the accused colluded with government officials to illegally grab 18 guntas of government land in BM Kaval and Michael Palya using forged documents.
The chargesheet has been filed under Section 13(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, relating to criminal misconduct by a public servant, along with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code dealing with criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy.
According to the investigation, deceased accused George Tangaiah allegedly created forged documents and falsely claimed ownership over the government land. He was accused of colluding with retired revenue officer J Francis, retired assistant revenue officer Nagendra R, and retired revenue inspector H Devaraju to register the land in his name.
The Lokayukta police further alleged that George Tangaiah’s son, Vijay Shekar Tangaiah, continued to illegally enjoy the property despite being aware that the documents were forged. George Tangaiah died in 2019.
Investigators also noted that an interim stay order is in force against accused J Francis, and a supplementary chargesheet will be filed once the stay is vacated.
