Mangaluru, Mar 22, 2023: The Deshapremi Sanghatanegala Okkoota of Mangaluru on March 21, Tuesday took out a protest march from near the Carstreet Venkataramana Temple to the residence of the slain RTI activist Vinayak Baliga demanding justice in the case.
The protest march led by the murder victim’s sisters Anuradha and Harsha commenced outside Sri Venkatramana Temple, Car Street and concluded at the murder spot near his residence, after going past the residence of the prime accused Naresh Shenoy on VT Road.
Family members, supporters and activists campaigning for justice for slain RTI activist Vinayak Baliga participated in the march to commemorate the 7th anniversary of his murder. The march started with a prayer by his sisters to Lord Venkatramana, the favorite deity of their brother. In a poignant image, the sisters stood outside the temple and begged the lord to give justice to his slain devotee.
“It is regrettable that GSB community temples and institutions are being taken control of by a temple mafia and becoming like private properties of vested interests,” said the rationalist leader Prof. Narendra Nayak while flagging off a protest march organized in the city today to demand justice for slain RTI activist Vinayak Baliga.
It has been seven years since the murder of Vinayak Baliga near his house on March 21, 2016 and his family is still fighting for justice. Eminent rationalist and social activist Prof Narendra Nayak, Somanath Nayak, Social activists, Women’s forum members and many others joined the protest march.
