Mangaluru: Gang intercepts Kerala businessman’s car, loots gold and vehicle

Mangaluru, Jun 29, 2026: A Kerala-based businessman was robbed of his car and gold jewellery after a gang intercepted his vehicle at Bykampady in the early hours of Monday.

The victim has been identified as Vikas, a resident of Payyanur in Kerala. He was returning home with his wife and son after attending a friend’s wedding in Mumbai when the incident occurred.


Car robbed

According to the complaint, at around 2.30 am, as Vikas’ car reached near Dwara Hotel on National Highway 66 at Bykampady, a group of seven to eight men arrived in three cars and blocked his vehicle. The assailants allegedly forced Vikas out of the car and drove away with his wife and son still inside.

The gang later took the family to the Panambur Beach Road area, where they allegedly robbed Vikas’ wife and son of their gold jewellery and other valuables before abandoning them on the roadside. The accused then fled with the car.

Vikas has lodged a complaint with the Panambur Police Station.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
