Declaring that the BJP has made a mistake by selecting B. S. Yeddyurappa as their candidate, the former minister said that the CM is chiefly responsible for the fuel price hikes and therefore he should be punished at the Vidhan Sabha. He said that, according to the CM, farmers, backward classes, human rights, and Lokayukta have no value and alleged that the state has lost peace after Yeddyurappa came to power.

The state government has added 25 percent sales tax on petroleum products, while Andhra Pradesh has added only 8 percent. The state government has added Rs 14 to the actual prize, he said and urged the state government to reduce just 5 percent and reduce the price hike.

He also informed that the UPA government has increased the price of petroleum only once while the NDA government has increased it 25 times for 147 percent; moreover, it has increased the price of Kerosene four times during its term. The union government has not increased the price of petroleum products because it feels happy to do so, he said informing his listeners that the price hike is because 80 percent of petroleum products are imported from other countries.

Criticizing the chief minister of Karnataka, he said that Yeddyurappa has no common sense. He pointed out that doctors and nurses were unable to go to hospitals, medical shops were closed, and buses were burned because of the bundh. He suggested that bundhs must be peacefully and silently organized and the participants must march holding a black cloth on the day of the bundh without disturbing normal life.

He said that central and state governments will not have any power on petroleum products because the authority has been reverted to private companies, which will increase the prices without any notice. He suggested that solutions must be sought in support of the country’s poor people.

Suresh Ballal, Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Arun Coelho, and Harikrishna Bantwal were also present.
