Udupi: Lokayukta police arrest geologist on graft charges

girish 1 Udupi, March 21, 2013 : The Lokayukta sleuths have trapped red-handed a geologist named Girish Mohan (36) at the Udupi district administration complex at Rajathadri on March 19, Tuesday while he was accepting bribe from a person.

The raid followed a complaint by one Sandeep Kotian, a sand mining businessman from Herga. He had alleged that the geologist had demanded a bribe of Rs 3000 to renew the sand mining licence.

The Lokayukta who raided the office caught Girish while he accepted the bribe of Rs 4500 from Sandeep. Apart from that unaccounted cash of Rs 47000 which was found in the office, was also seized.

The raid was led by Udupi Lokayukta DySP Vittaldas Pai. Inspector Dinesh Kumar and several Lokayukta personnel were part of the raiding team.

i don’t approve of what this man has done but this relatively a small amount and politcians who dupe the public of crores of its money never get caught or even feel any remorse. instead of blaming him i think the cops should even interrogate his seniors and collegues.

not to forget sandeep kotian , most people don’t make the effort of filling a complaint and others have to bear the brunt. kudos to him ,maybe at least now people like girish will think twice before demanding a bribe.
