India dominated team events, with both the men’s and women’s cricket teams successfully defending their Asian Games titles. The men’s team defeated Pakistan in the final, while the women’s team also clinched gold.

Hockey delivered another major success, with both Indian teams winning gold for the first time at the same edition of the Asian Games. The men’s team defeated Malaysia 5-1 in the final, with captain Harmanpreet Singh scoring twice, while the women’s team edged past China 1-0. Both teams also secured direct qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
India’s men’s and women’s kabaddi teams also claimed gold medals, further strengthening the country’s dominance in team sports.

Among the standout individual performances, Pranavi Urs created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual Asian Games gold medal in golf. India also secured medals in archery, boxing and wrestling, while Suchika Tariyal became the country’s first Asian Games medallist in mixed martial arts, winning bronze in the women’s Traditional 60kg category.

Athletics and shooting remained major contributors to India’s medal tally, with athletes and shooters delivering podium finishes across individual and team events. Weightlifting and squash also added to India’s medal count, reflecting the country’s growing competitiveness across disciplines.

The Games provided a significant boost to India’s preparations for the Los Angeles Olympics, with the hockey teams securing direct qualification. Several other athletes also gained valuable international experience ahead of the next Olympic cycle.

China topped the final medal standings, followed by Japan and South Korea, while India finished fourth with 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals.

While India could not match its record performance in Hangzhou, the Aichi-Nagoya Games delivered several historic milestones, new champions and encouraging performances as the country looks ahead to the 2028 Olympics.
