New Delhi, Oct 5, 2026: Delhi Police on Monday detained several people protesting outside the Parliament Street Police Station over an alleged incident of misconduct by a police personnel with a woman.
The protest came after three women journalists complained to the Delhi Police of alleged sexual harassment by police personnel during a protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Mantar on October 3.
The complaints have been transferred to the Crime Branch for an impartial inquiry, a police officer said.
A protester told news agency ANI, “The police are misbehaving with us. We are here to ask for the status of our complaint after 48 hours.”
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has also backed the women journalists who levelled the allegations against Delhi Police personnel. CPJ spokesperson Saurav Das, along with other protesters, has demanded registration of an FIR in the case.
“The Delhi Police is shielding its sexual predator Vivek Bhagat and is refusing to register an FIR,” Das said in a post on X, alleging that police had sought more time to inquire into the written complaint and video evidence.
