Mangaluru, Oct. 4, 2026: The student robotics team of the Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL), Mangaluru, will compete in the qualifying rounds of Battle of Robots 2026, an international combat robotics championship to be held in Moscow from October 8 to 10. CFAL is one of only two teams selected to represent India at the event.
The team comprises Hari Prasad S K, Maquin Gregg Rodrigues, Anagha S R, Ishan Jemshid, Amogh C Naik, Sujay Aithala, Priyanshu Swarnakar, Likhith Madhava Arkula, B Manthan Baliga and Aldreena Diya Rodrigues. They will compete against teams from several countries in live combat rounds.

At the 2025 edition, CFAL’s team was selected among 64 teams, advanced to the final 16 and secured third place in the 1.5 kg category.
This year, the team will field two 1.5 kg combat robots, Bullfrog and Twinrift. Bullfrog is a compact horizontal spinner that won third place in its category in 2025, while Twinrift features a four-wheel-drive system with multiple weapon configurations.
The students have spent the past year upgrading both robots, focusing on their wheels, electronics, weapons and drive systems, drawing on their experience from previous competitions.
The robots were designed and built under the guidance of Sujan Shetty, head of CFAL’s Makerspace and a founding member of the initiative, and Harshitha Nayak, an engineer and STEM educator. The team also received technical and competition-preparation support from Terrorbull Robotics, a leading Indian combat robotics team.
CFAL said the competition provides students with an opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world engineering challenges through hands-on design, testing and problem-solving. The institution aims to develop students’ practical engineering skills and encourage them to explore emerging fields such as robotics and artificial intelligence.
Founded in 2004, CFAL is a unit of The Learning Centre Trust and focuses on strengthening students’ foundations in mathematics and science while preparing them for competitive examinations, including JEE, NEET and Olympiads.
