Manipal, Oct 4, 2026: Six employees of a battery-operated vehicle service provider at the Manipal College campus have been arrested for allegedly diverting passenger fares worth ₹12 lakh using a duplicate QR code, police said.
The accused were employed by Indeanta E-Mobility Pvt. Ltd., which operates battery-powered vehicles to transport students and parents within the MIT campus at Shivalli village.

According to police, the accused allegedly stopped using the company’s official QR code from April 1, 2026, and created a separate transaction account and a personal merchant QR code to collect passenger fares. The money was reportedly routed to a bank account held by Aishwarya, wife of accused Muthanna Adinavar, and later distributed among the accused.
The case came to light following a complaint filed by the company’s human resources manager on October 2. Manipal police registered a case under Sections 316(4), 316(5), 318(2), 318(3), 318(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The arrested persons have been identified as Siddamurthy G (29) of Vijayanagar district, Shivaraj Naik (30) of Udupi, Sudeep (30) of Chitradurga, Jitesh L. Kanchan (29) of Manjeshwar in Kerala, Muthanna Adinavar (32) of Belagavi and M.B. Avinash (24) of Belthangady.
The six were arrested on October 2 and produced before a court, which subsequently remanded them to police custody for further investigation.
