Mangalore, Jan 19, 2012 : Team Mangalore, a group of avid kite fliers based in Mangalore, represented India at the Dubai International Kite Festival, which was recently held at the Dubai Outlet Mall in Dubai.
This festival was organized for the first time in UAE as part of the Basant and Lori celebrations.
Team Mangalore comprising Harish Kodialbail, Sarvesh Rao, and Arun Amin presented some of their best kites such as Durga, Kathakali, Yakshagana, Owl, Charlie, and Pushpaka Vimana.
A large number of kite enthusiasts not only form Dubai, but also from all over India participated in this festival.
Team Mangalore also conducted workshops and taught kids how to make Indian fighter kites. The team also distributed free kites among the children.
Team Mangalore has participated in several international kite festivals held in different countries all over the world. Its latest creation Pushpaka Vimana was greatly appreciated in Shri Lanka, where it was displayed for the first time.
The team also won the first place at the Udaipur International Kite Festival for the Unique Kite Design category.
The team also participated in the Belgaum International Kite Festival, which was held on Jan 15 – 16 and was organized by Abhay Patil, the MLA of Belgaum, in raise funds for soldiers.
Team Mangalore will also organize the ONGC – PL International Kite Festival on Jan 21 – 22 on Panambur Beach, the fourth event of its kind in Mangalore.
