Mangalore, July 17: District Superintendent police, A Subramanyeshwar Rao, in a press meet held here in his office, Mangalore on July 17 said that Sullia police have succeeded to arrest two thieves in connection with theft case.

The arrested have been identified as Manja (21) and Ammi (28), resident of Hunsur of Mysore. The arrest were made after registering a complaint by the owners of house B T Madhav, resident of Jayanagar, Sullia and Eshwar Bhat, a resident of Ubaradka Road, Atalnagar, Sullia.


SP further stated that the first incident occurred on June 21 and another on July 7. The thieves have gained entry into the house belongs to B T Madhav, the Superintendent of KVG Education Institute of Sullia after breaking the grills of window and  escaped with gold ornaments. The same culprits have broken in to the house of Eshwar Bhat, Businessman at Ubaradka and made away with jewellery on July 7. In both cases a total of 370 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs. 7 to 8 lakh were burgled.


After receiving complaint from the owners, Sullia police have stared their search operations. Two teams have been formed to catch the culprits. The police team comprising PSI Paul and PSI Priya Kumar and PSI Umesh Uppalike of Crime branch along with Constables HC Theertha Prasad, Damodar Naik, Hareesh Naik, Keshava have arrested the culprits from Madikeri on Wednesday, July 16 and confiscated nearly 245 grams of ornaments from them. Ravi, another culprit involved in the case will be arrested soon, he added.


The search operations were conducted under the direction of SP Subramayeshwar Rao and Amith Singh, Assistant Superintendent of police, Puttur division.
