Mangalore, Aug 3, 2013: Kumar Malemar, divisional chief of Sri Ram Sena has alleged that cattle smuggling cases as well as the unauthorized abattoirs have seen a rise ever since the Congress Government came to power in the state.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Aug 3, Saturday, he said that though the decision of the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to reject the Anti Cow Slaughter Bill introduced by the BJP government and continue the law of 1964, is welcome, the rise in cattle slaughter cases is highly unwelcome.

Kumar said that last night the cow slaughterers had taken a Jersey cow weighing 800 kgs and worth Rs 20,000 by threatening the owner of cow at Surathkal by brandishing weapons. “Sri Ram Sena condemns this act and the Hindu society will teach a lesson to these killers in the coming days,” he said. He urged the Government to provide compensation to the people who lost their cow.
He also said that even after knowing about the incident, the local MLA Mohiddin Bawa has not visited the victims. At the same time, he said the Sena appreciated the efforts of the MLA in seeing to it that as many as 13 cows were rescued during a raid on an illegal abattoir by Panambur Station Inspector Bharathi.
He also alleged that police department has not responded to the complaint of forcibly taking away the cattle and warned that the Rama Sena would hold a violent protest across the district if the culprits were not arrested.
SRS members Jeevan Neermarga, Mahesh Bhat, Ganesh Attavar and Mahesh Padavinangady were present at the press meet.
