Kota: Sanjeevini federation chief accountant accused of misappropriating Rs. 33.50 lakh

Kota, Aug. 8, 2026: The Kota police have registered a case against the chief accountant of a Sanjeevini federation for allegedly misappropriating Rs. 33.50 lakh belonging to the organisation.

The accused, Ashwini (33), a resident of Hardalli-Mandalli village, has been working as the chief accountant of the Samruddhi Sanjeevini Hardalli-Mandalli Gram Panchayat-level Federation since 2022.

The federation comprises 54 self-help groups and has received a total of Rs. 52.50 lakh in government funds since 2022. The funds are operated through the Canara Bank branch at Bidkalkatte and are required to be distributed among various self-help groups based on their needs. The responsibility for making these disbursements rests with the chief accountant.

According to the complaint, Ashwini allegedly failed to distribute the government funds to the respective self-help groups and instead misappropriated Rs. 33.50 lakh.

She allegedly forged the signatures and seals of the federation’s president, secretary and treasurer, and also forged the signatures of members of various self-help groups. The funds were allegedly withdrawn in the name of Mandara Self-Help Group, of which Ashwini is the president, as well as in the names of members of other groups.

Based on the complaint, Kota police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
