Karnataka SIR: EC revises schedule; voters can submit enumeration forms till August 17

Bengaluru, Aug 8, 2026: The Election Commission on Friday announced a revised schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka, extending the timelines for submission of enumeration forms and verification of the ASDDO (Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others) list.

Under the revised schedule, an additional nine days will be available for both submitting enumeration forms and verifying the ASDDO list, which has crossed 1.09 crore electors.

The extension is expected to help rectify cases where genuine voters were wrongly included in the ASDDO list by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and prevent their exclusion from the draft electoral rolls. The draft rolls will now be published on August 24 instead of August 17.

House-to-house visits by BLOs, which began on June 20, will continue until August 17. Rationalisation of polling stations will also be completed by the same date.

After the publication of the draft electoral rolls, voters who receive notices will have to submit additional documents for verification during the claims and objections period from August 24 to September 23.

The process of disposing of claims will be completed by October 22, while the final electoral rolls will be published on October 27.

Political parties and citizen groups had earlier raised concerns over the large number of voters included in the ASDDO list and demanded an extension of the deadline for submitting enumeration forms. They had also sought an audit of the ASDDO list uploaded on the website of the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer.

KPCC chief B.K. Hariprasad had urged the Chief Electoral Officer to extend the deadline by 15 days to enable genuine voters affected by the exercise to approach their respective BLOs and update or correct their records or have their forms restored.
